Mon and Brec Canal reopens
Mon and Brec Canal Reopening a great success
On Sunday 29th March the crowds gathered at Goytre Wharf in South Wales to celebrate the reopening of the Mon and Brec Canal after being closed for over a year due to a breach. The side of the canal slipped down the mountain in October 2007 and since then engineers have worked hard to fix it. Face painters, chldren's activities, bird displays and storytellers were just some of the exciting things taking place at the event. Children from Goytre Fawr Primary School had worked with the WOW team to produce withy and tissue fish sculptures to decorate the site, as well as writing their own poems to celebrate the canal. Well done to Ewan, Daniel, Kirstin and Jordan the poetry competition winners.
